Jon Ady Takes on 17 Players in Simultaneous Display

Camberley Chess Club members enjoyed a memorable evening on Thursday when leading club member FM Jon Ady gave a simultaneous display against 17 opponents.

Taking on all 17 players at once, Jon circled the room continuously, making a move on each board before returning for the next round. Simultaneous displays are mentally and physically demanding, requiring exceptional concentration over several hours.

Jon produced a superb performance, finishing with 15 wins, one draw and just one defeat, giving him a remarkable score of 15½ points from 17 games (91.2%).

Congratulations go to Daniel Seaton, who recorded the evening’s only victory over Jon, while Paul Sloane earned an excellent draw.

The evening was enjoyed by everyone who took part, providing players of all strengths with the rare opportunity to test themselves against one of the club’s strongest players in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Many of the games developed into hard-fought contests and gave participants plenty to analyse afterwards.

Camberley Chess Club would like to thank Jon for giving up his time to provide such an entertaining and memorable event, and to everyone who took part and helped make the evening such a success.

Jon Ady Simul

Thu July 30 @ 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM

As 2025 Club Champion, Jon Ady has kindly agreed to take on all members in a simultaneous display on Thursday 30th July in the main hall on our usual club night.

This is intended to be a friendly and enjoyable evening. Please follow these simple guidelines to help the exhibition run smoothly.

  1. Jon Ady will play White on every board.
  2. Please wait until Jon has arrived at your board before making your move. Jon will then make his move and proceed to the next board.
  3. Please have your move ready whenever possible to help keep the exhibition flowing.
  4. If you would like more thinking time, simply indicate this to Jon. He will skip your board and return to it on the next circuit.
  5. Please do not discuss games or suggest moves while play is in progress.
  6. Touch-move will not be enforced – this is a friendly exhibition.
  7. Players may resign at any time if they wish.
  8. Spectators are very welcome, but please remain quiet while games are in progress.
  9. Above all, enjoy the evening!
