Daniel Shek wins Major Tournament

Laura Mullins of BAE Systems, Farnborough, presented a cheque for £325 to Daniel Shek, Salesian College student and Camberley Chess Club member, for winning first place in the Major section of the South Lakes Chess Congress held in Barrow In-Furness.

Despite the long drive from Farnborough to Barrow In-Furness, Daniel felt confident of a great result. This prize marks another significant achievement for him, alongside those that Daniel gained while participating in both national and international chess tournaments.

Daniel is hoping to compete in the world amateur tournament held in Muscat, Oman later in October and this cheque from BAE Systems will greatly assist him in this.
