Welcome to Camberley Chess Club New Member Hub

Where you play is up to you. Whether you want a relaxed casual game, official ECF-rated internal Comps, or a seamless bridge into external league play, your chess journey starts right here.

A Warm Welcome
Take a breath and read our introductory guide, From the Mat to the Board. It sets a reassuring, inclusive tone that normalizes starting or returning to chess. You don’t need to be a tournament veteran to walk through our doors—just a love for the game.

Sunday Casual Play: Looking for extra board time? We also run dedicated relaxed casual sessions on Sundays at Pine Ridge Golf Club to keep the pieces moving.

Parking & Access: Free parking is available on-site.

The Details: Your first visits are completely free. There is no need to book—simply drop in whenever you are ready, or email the club secretary ahead of time if you prefer to let us know you’re coming.

Your Path from Club Play to League Action

Our club runs as a single, flexible weekly ecosystem, designed to welcome newer players right alongside everyone else:

Internal Comps: A rotating annual calendar of regular, ECF-rated internal Comps that any member can enter, running right on club nights—including our Club Championship, Matrix events, Rapid and Blitz events, and the annual Keith Richardson Memorial tournament—designed to help you build confidence and an official rating against familiar faces.

The SBL C Team Gateway: Serving as our entry-level Surrey Border League side, the SBL C Team provides a friendly, low-pressure bridge into external matches during the October to May league season, fully backed by the SBL C Team Fixtures & Results below and monthly commentary.

Fixtures & results powered by Chessfolio

League Progression: For those wanting a bigger competitive challenge, we field A, B, and C teams across both the Surrey Border and Berkshire leagues throughout that standard league season. There is zero rush—take your time.
