Camberley Chess Club, Junior Section
The Junior Section of the Chess Club has existed in tandem with the “main” club since the earliest days back in 1972.
The junior club meets on the same (Tuesday) evening starting at 6:30pm taking its membership from local schools in the Camberley, Sandhurst, Yateley, Frimley, Bagshot and other areas.
The juniors members are a mixture of primary and secondary school aged children with an increasing number of home schooled children learning about chess.
In the spring we run the famous Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge for all our junior members.
Each club night features friendly matches with other juniors, teaching and coaching from our resident ECF Accredited coaches, practice tournaments and other events.
Those who wish to play in local league matches are encouraged to learn how to record (“score”) their games and use chess timers.
Those who wish to play in local league matches are encouraged to learn how to record (“score”) their games and use chess timers. The more advanced juniors are encouraged to compete in junior tournaments.
We have an active Facebook Group which you are welcome to join and participate in.
The membership fee is £25 for one year and this includes being able to play in local league matches.
The Membership Secretary of the Junior Club is the same as the main club.
