Camberley Chess Club – Over The Board and Online

We meet Over The Board every Thursday evening 7:30pm from 21st October 2021 to 28th April 2022 at Camberley Baptist Church, 15 Frimley Road, Camberley, GU15 3EN. See map at bottom of this page. Free parking is available close by off Sullivan Road, GU15 3AZ

For Over The Board chess simply come along on a Thursday night to see the club for yourself, play some chess, meet some members with no obligation to join.

Once you have been a couple of times, if you wish, we can discuss Over The Board Membership or if you prefer just to come along whenever you wish, then you can pay as you go with our Casual Weekly Payment.

We meet Over The Board every other Sunday at Pine Ridge (May to mid October)

We meet Online every Tuesdays 8PM on Zoom

Online Membership

We started Tuesday online meetings at the beginning of the UK Covid lockdown in March 2020 to help members keep in touch, learn and enjoy chess more. For the 2021-2022 season we are continuing the Tuesday online meetings. We have a significant schedule of events already lined up, including top UK players from past and present, analysing games, openings, puzzles, endgames, consultation matches, and inter club matches.

To cover admin costs, develop content and special events, we have an annual Online Membership subscription.

Please note that we often use photos and videos of our members playing chess or watching zoom meetings on this website, on YouTube or on social media. Therefore please let us know when you join if you do not want your photo/videos to appear.

As a 2021-22 Online Member you will automatically receive email invites to all our online events and have exclusive access to videos of key events to catch up on if you wish.

Camberley Chess Club 2021-2022 Online Membership £25

Camberley Chess Club will automatically email you a payment receipt and you will be added to our Online Membership for invites to our Online Meetings. 2021-2022 Club membership runs to 31st August 2022.

An Evening with GM David Howell

We were excited to have Grandmaster David Howell as our star guest on 18th May.  David is the UK number 2, was this country’s youngest GM at the age of 16, and has been British champion 3 times.  He talk us through some positions requiring careful calculations, some games and also left time for some an interesting Q&A session.

The club welcomes players of all ages, Juniors, Adults, Seniors and of all skill levels, from Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire and all over the UK and the world. The club has beginners through to top chess league players and an International Master. The club has teams in the Berkshire Leagues and also the Surrey Border Leagues.
