The Keith Richardson Memorial Chess Tournament – Saturday Aug 12th 2017 Camberley

Keith Richardson died following a stroke in April 2017.  He had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease.  He was a longstanding member of Camberley Chess Club and was well known in the English chess community.  Formerly he was an international correspondence grandmaster.

We plan to run a tournament on August 12th at the Baptist Church Hall Camberley in his memory.  It will be a rapid play tournament starting at around 10:30am and finishing by 5:30pm.  All chess players can play or watch but members of local chess clubs who knew Keith are especially welcome.  There will be a trophy for the winner and some grading related prizes.  Tea and coffee will be provided but bring your own lunch or buy a sandwich at the shop next door.  There is no charge for entry but we will hold a raffle.  The prizes will be chess books from Keith’s collection.  All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Parkinson’s Association.

Please register for the tournament by supplying your name, grade and email address to Christine Coates.  There is a limit to how many we can accommodate so please register early.  We look forward to seeing you there.

It is with immense sadness that we report the passing of long-time Camberley Chess Club member Keith Richardson on Monday, April 10th, 2017.

Keith had been a member since the formation of the club in the early 1970s and has always been a very well respected member of the club.
